Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological condition which affects movement and a wide range of daily functions. While it is often recognised for its motor symptoms such as tremor, stiffness, slowness of movement and difficulties with balance, there are also significant non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease which can impact quality of life.
These may include sleep disturbances, mood changes, difficulties with memory and thinking, and one of the most common and frustrating symptoms: fatigue.

The best outcomes come from a multidisciplinary approach, where exercise physiologists collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, neurologists and other health professionals. This team-based model ensures that treatment addresses not only fatigue but also the wide range of motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Exercise physiology is an important part of living well with Parkinson’s. It can provide structure, motivation and evidence-based strategies which help individuals maintain independence and participation in meaningful activities – even when fatigue feels like a barrier.
