The Melillo Method™ is the brain-based treatment model behind everything we do at Neurofit Brain Centre in Brisbane.
It’s a drug-free, non-invasive approach that starts with a comprehensive assessment and moves into a personalised therapy program built around your brain’s specific needs.
The Melillo Method™ is a treatment model developed by Dr Robert Melillo, based on the principle of functional neurology.
It focuses on the connection between the brain and body, aiming to encourage the two sides of the brain to work together to aid attention, behaviour, coordination and learning.
It’s based on the science of brain plasticity, the understanding that the brain can be trained and retrained throughout life.
Every practitioner at Neurofit Brain Centre is trained in the Melillo Method™. We use it as a framework to identify which areas of the brain and body are underdeveloped, under-regulated or not working together as they should.
Once we understand where the imbalance lies, we prescribe a program of targeted activities designed to stimulate that specific area. We often combine several therapies at once, a process known as co-activation.
We work with children, teens and adults who are experiencing functional challenges rather than seeking a diagnosis.
Attention and focus
Sensory processing
Balance, coordination and movement
Learning-related difficulties
Retained primitive reflexes
Broader neurodevelopmental support
If you’d like to explore how the Melillo Method™ could help you or your child, the first step is an assessment.
Treatment always starts with a comprehensive assessment at our Eight Mile Plains clinic. This begins with a pre-screening questionnaire, followed by an on-site evaluation covering over 50 items across physical, neurological and computerised testing.
Depending on your needs, this may include:
Once complete, we’ll walk you through a report of findings and use the results to build a therapy plan tailored to you or your child.
Your therapy program draws on a range of brain-based modalities, often used in combination to maximise results.
Our brain-based treatments may include:
At the end of your initial treatment program, we conduct a reassessment to measure progress against your original results. This allows us to compare functional performance, review what’s working and adjust the plan accordingly.
Depending on your results and goals, this may mean moving into a maintenance phase, or continuing with a further course of targeted therapy.
The Melillo Method™ is a brain-based treatment model developed by Dr Robert Melillo. It’s grounded in functional neurology and uses assessment and targeted therapy to help address imbalances between the two sides of the brain.
We start by finding which parts of the brain need support, then use targeted exercises involving the senses, movement and mental skills to help the brain build stronger, healthier connections over time.
Treatment starts with a comprehensive assessment, followed by a personalised program that may combine therapies such as primitive reflexes integration, digital therapy, photobiomodulation therapy (laser therapy) and sensory and motor therapy.
Yes. While many of our patients are children and teens, we also work with adults experiencing attention, coordination, sensory or learning-related challenges.
The first step is always a comprehensive assessment at our Eight Mile Plains clinic, which helps us understand your specific needs before building a therapy plan.
No. Neurofit Brain Centre does not diagnose medical or developmental conditions. We work with people who already have a diagnosis, or who are seeking support for functional challenges.
